When was Black Rock Resort built and where is it located?
Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, built in 2008, is located on a dramatic Pacific Ocean headland in beautiful Ucluelet with the resort’s Lodge built around a breathtaking surge channel. Amazing sunsets, great stormwatching, and whale spotting can be enjoyed from oceanfront units and resort amenities. The resort is steps from the Wild PacificTrail and a short drive to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve; Tofino is only 40 km away.
How many units make up the resort and what kind of units are they?
The resort is comprised of a large 4-storey Lodge with 69 units and the Wild Pacific Trail Suites (12 cottages with 4 units each; the West Beach House with 6 units, and the East Beach House with 8 units). The Lodge features studio, one and two-bedroom suite options with either ocean or forest views. The cottages have two levels with a studio and one-bedroom suite on each level which can be adjoined to create a two-bedroom suite. The two Beach Houses also have two levels with three (West) or four (East) units on each floor respectively. All units are equipped with private balconies, either a kitchenette or kitchen, a gas fireplace, flat-screen TV and a spa-inspired bathroom.
If I purchase a unit, can I live at the resort?
Unfortunately, no. Although many units in the resort are owned privately, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is not zoned for full-time residential use. That said, as an owner, you can use your unit a generous 150 days per year but cannot exceed 30 days in a 36-day period. The balance of the year your unit will be in the rental pool which allows you to earn income that will help to offset the cost of ownership.
What is included in the monthly strata fee?
Strata fees include strata management fee(s), cleaning, general maintenance of the common areas of the resort, utilities, sewer and water, cable TV and internet, hydro and more. You pay your property taxes yourself.
Can I customize my unit’s furnishings and appliances?
No. The Resort upgrades furnishings and appliances as needed and there is a standard set of furnishings, appliances, linens, dishes, etc. for each unit in the facility.
